The village of James Manor was begun on the estate by Wynne James. Nearby villages were Jamestown, New Britain and Vauxtown. The racial makeup of the borough was 95.87%\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/White_(U.S._Census)\"><u>White<\/u><\/a>, 2.05%\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/African_American_(U.S._Census)\"><u>African American<\/u><\/a>, 0.06%\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Native_American_(U.S._Census)\"><u>Native American<\/u><\/a>, 0.80%\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Asian_(U.S._Census)\"><u>Asian<\/u><\/a>, 0.03%\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pacific_Islander_(U.S._Census)\"><u>Pacific Islander<\/u><\/a>, 0.26% from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Race_(United_States_Census)\"><u>other races<\/u><\/a>, and 0.93% from two or more races.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hispanic_(U.S._Census)\"><u>Hispanic<\/u><\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Latino_(U.S._Census)\"><u>Latino<\/u><\/a>\u00a0of any race were 1.63% of the population.<\/p><p>There were 912 households, out of which 32.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.9% were\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Marriage\"><u>married couples<\/u><\/a>\u00a0living together, 10.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.5% were non-families. 22.4% of all households were made up of individuals, and 7.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.58 and the average family size was 3.01.<\/p><p>In the borough the population was spread out, with 18.6% under the age of 18, 29.0% from 18 to 24, 23.3% from 25 to 44, 20.1% from 45 to 64, and 9.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 28 years. For every 100 females there were 89.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.0 males.<\/p><p>The median income for a household in the borough was $60,029, and the median income for a family was $67,500. Males had a median income of $45,875 versus $28,942 for females. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Per_capita_income\"><u>per capita income<\/u><\/a>\u00a0for the borough was $20,877. Although most summer days are slightly humid in New Britain, episodes of heat and high humidity can occur with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Heat_index\"><u>heat index<\/u><\/a>\u00a0values &gt; 106\u00a0\u00b0F (41\u00a0\u00b0C).
