It was named after a town in central England and was the home to many Scots-Irish Presbyterians. In 1819, the Township lost over half its territory to the north when Doylestown Township was established.<\/p><p>History is closely tied to several existing structures. The Neshaminy Presbyterian Church is one of the earliest religious associations in Pennsylvania, dating back to 1726. href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Census\">census<\/a><a href=\"#cite_note-GR2-7\"><sup>[7]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0of 2000, there were 11,977 people, 3,933 households, and 3,268 families residing in the township. The population density was 1,075.3 inhabitants per square mile (415.2\/km<sup>2<\/sup>). There were 4,050 housing units at an average density of 363.6 per square mile (140.4\/km<sup>2<\/sup>). The racial makeup of the township was 95.93%\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/White_(U.S._Census)\">White<\/a>, 1.04%\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/African_American_(U.S._Census)\">African American<\/a>, 0.07%\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Native_American_(U.S._Census)\">Native American<\/a>, 2.14%\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Asian_(U.S._Census)\">Asian<\/a>, 0.05%\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pacific_Islander_(U.S._Census)\">Pacific Islander<\/a>, 0.13% from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Race_(United_States_Census)\">other races<\/a>, and 0.64% from two or more races.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hispanic_(U.S._Census)\">Hispanic<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Latino_(U.S._Census)\">Latino<\/a>\u00a0of any race were 1.03% of the population.<\/p><p>There were 3,933 households, out of which 50.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 74.3% were\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Marriage\">married couples<\/a>\u00a0living together, 6.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 16.9% were non-families. 13.1% of all households were made up of individuals, and 3.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.04 and the average family size was 3.38.<\/p><p>In the township the population was spread out, with 33.1% under the age of 18, 4.9% from 18 to 24, 36.2% from 25 to 44, 20.1% from 45 to 64, and 5.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 96.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.0 males.<\/p><p>The median income for a household in the township was $81,711, and the median income for a family was $88,145. Males had a median income of $60,334 versus $36,751 for females. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Per_capita_income\">per capita income<\/a>\u00a0for the township was $29,734.
